Roasting Dates, Coffee Freshness and Storage

Roasting Dates, Coffee Freshness and Storage

Specialty coffee flavours are at their optimum 7-14 days after roasting in the sealed, valved bags we use. Once open, we recommend folding the bag to expel the air and storing air-tight in a cupboard. We do not recommend refrigerated storage as the high relative humidity causes accelerated staling.

We try to roast on demand with a general roasting schedule of Wednesday and Saturday. However, we will occasionally be able to supply coffee more promptly because it was roasted only days before and is already available at the time of your order. With all coffee bagged on the day of roasting and stored in optimum conditions in sealed and valved bags, our rule is that on the day of dispatch, the coffee will be 4 days old or less. Therefore, when it reaches your place it’ll still have it’s best days ahead of it.
