Coffee Dessert Recipe - Beansmith Tiramisu

Tiramisu is a contemporary creation in Italian culture with its origins often disputed between various regions in Italy. However, most accounts of the origin of tiramisu date its invention to the 1960s in the region of Veneto, Italy, at the restaurant "Le Beccherie" in Treviso, Italy. [ref. Wikipedia] The "Tiramisú" name comes from the phrase "Tirami su", litterally "cheer me up" or "pick me up". It refers to the invigorating power of a coffee and dairy based dessert.

I've chosen the bare essential ingredients of the highest quality and created my own take on this classic dessert, with espresso coffee as the hero. This way you can savour each component and enjoy the interplay and contrast between them.

  • Use a piccolo latte glass or similar.
  • A shot of quality espresso roast coffee such a Brazil Brauna for its food friendly profile.
  • One finger biscuit.
  • Fill up the glass to your liking with Mascarpone.
  • Sprinkle on top with Panela sugar (rapadura) and dark chocolate shavings.
